WWS + Asian Studies
updated March 15, 2025
Recorded here is my own personal collection of articles, resources, favorite links, teaching ideas, and lesson plans. It encompasses many years, from the very beginning of my experience studying and learning about Waldorf to the present time. People from all around the world visit my site and recommend it to others. Welcome!
This site records my journey. I hope my honesty is encouraging and helps break down some barriers that may prevent people from trying Waldorf methods. Because this is an ongoing site documenting my curriculum planning and ideas, some materials are more Waldorf-y than others. Please feel free to take what you like and leave the rest.
This page has helpful links and LOADS of free resources to help you plan your seventh grade year. Enjoy!

Asian Studies
for Class 7
Rationale
This is the companion page to Cultural Block #1 (Aztec, Inca, Maya) in sixth grade, and
deals with the difficulty of fighting the Eurocentrism of the original Waldorf curriculum. In a
scope & sequence that is already so packed with stuff, how can we fit in a block on the history & geography of Far East Asia?
I've thought about this a lot and my conclusion is that the best option is to combine it with the Creative
Writing block (by specifically focusing on haiku). I'm going to begin to think about this in more detail.
Many Waldorf Handwork teachers use grade 7 as a time to teach visible mending & sashiko stitching.
As always, I will share my brainstorming as well as my notes from teaching this topic.
